The series

«HamCode — RF in code only» is the second series by Roberto Arato, after «Avalonia in code only»: signals, telecommunications, satellites and microwaves, in C# with .NET 10 and Avalonia, with the core of the algorithms written by hand and every number measured. The books are in Italian.

Chapters carry the volume number (I.1, II.8, IV.4); references to the other series carry the AVA prefix (AVA.VII.21).

How every chapter is made

  1. What you will learn: what gets built and which algorithms you learn.
  2. The concepts: the theory needed, with at least one diagram per concept.
  3. The code: a program that compiles and runs, not fragments; the core written by hand, without libraries.
  4. The measurements: the theory curve next to the program's; in volumes 4 and 5 also the built and measured circuit.
  5. Common mistakes: the real pitfalls, with the symptom and the cure.
  6. To remember: the chapter in a few lines.
  7. Exercises: to do with the editor open.

Licenses

The example programs are free and usable in the reader's commercial programs too (MIT license). The radio world has a lot of GPL code: librtlsdr, Hamlib, Qucs, openEMS are used only from outside, as reference programs, and none of their lines enters the books. Published algorithms (SGP4 and SDP4, the microstrip formulas) are rewritten from the sources, citing the authors.

What you need

A computer with Windows, Linux or macOS, the .NET 10 SDK and an editor; the first chapter of volume 1 explains Visual Studio Code step by step. For the audio chapters the computer's sound card is enough; for radio, a cheap SDR receiver; for microwaves, a NanoVNA.
